For decades our organization has championed the idea that all adults deserve to enjoy opportunites for  lifelong learning  In recent years we have fought on behalf of those adults who never completed their education in the public school system and now want a second chance. We are currently engaged in a public conversation about how those services should be delivered and funded. One fact we know: For every dollar spent on Adult Basic Education and GED preparation our state saves seven dollars in other services it would have to provide; such as, unemployment, welfare, and  incarceration. Our aim is to promote the human good that results from public adult education and to remind those in power of the common sense dollars and cents  Adult Basic Education and GED preparation saves the taxpayers in the state of Indiana. We also intend to act as a voice for those in Indiana  who teach adults; especially those who teach undereducated adults.

We would welcome the opportunity to earn your commitment to our cause and to engage you in one of the most important issues facing Hoosier society . Contact us today to become involved as a donor,  a volunteer, or a member.

The Indiana Association for Adult and Continuing Education is a state-wide association of over 400 individuals and their institutions promoting the education and training of adults for stronger Hoosier communities.

The organization evolved from a group of adult educators who first met in December, 1943 to discuss the future of adult education in Indiana.

Over the following decades many changes occurred in Indiana that affected all Hoosiers and caused a growing need for adult education. The group has changed with the times.

With the merging of two organizations concerned with the future of adult education, the current Indiana Association for Adult and Continuing Education was formed in 1983.
